Who Are We?

At Studio Deloryan, we're not just game developers; we're a community of creators with a passion for crafting realistic management games. Our flagship project, Horse Reality, boasts a vibrant community of 10k daily active players and an average of 50k monthly active players. Our journey began years ago when our founder built the game from scratch using PHP, jQuery, Javascript, and MySQL. In 2020, we embarked on a transformation, migrating the game to the Laravel framework, an ongoing process. We're also embracing decoupled microservices and containerised infrastructure to pave the way for future growth.

Horse Reality, sets a new standard for horse management games. We've meticulously recreated horse genetics, delivering a realistic experience that educates players about horse colour genetics. Join us in revolutionising the gaming industry with creativity, empathy, and a love for horses.

What We Are Looking For

As our COO, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations and strategic long-term growth of Studio Deloryan. With your entrepreneurial mindset and organisational leadership skills, you ensure the smooth functioning of our studio and contribute to our mission to create enjoyable games that capture the hearts of animal lovers. We are looking for someone with a passion for games, ideally with experience in the free-to-play market.

The COO is a key member in the team, reporting only to the CEO. You’ll maintain daily operations, so you are expected to be an experienced and efficient leader.

Key Responsibilities

• Business Development: Explore opportunities for studio growth, partnerships, and new projects, all while maintaining the studio's commitment to fostering a supportive and autonomous work environment.
• Financial Management: Monitor and manage the studio's financial health, including budgeting, performance management and cost control, while ensuring that financial decisions align with the studio's goals and values.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance studio efficiency and productivity. Encourage employees to take initiative in proposing and implementing process enhancements.
• Operational Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight for all operational aspects of the studio, including project management, resource allocation, and workflow optimisation. Cultivate a culture that embraces autonomy, allowing employees to learn from their experiences and continuously improve.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and collaborate with our talented team, creating an environment where team members are encouraged to take ownership of their work, learn from both successes and setbacks, and contribute their best selves to the team.
• Project Management: Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful game development and delivery.
• CEO Collaboration: You write and submit reports to the CEO, and collaborate with our CEO on plans for corporate growth and evolution.

Requirements

• Proven Record: Experience in a leadership role within the gaming industry, with a deep understanding of game development processes and project management. 
• Public Speaking: You are a confident public speaker.
• Coaching & Leadership: Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a small, passionate team.
• Finance: Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles, with the ability to demonstrate this.
• Excellent Communication: Fluent in both Dutch and English, with clear and professional communication skills, along with effective time management.
• EU Work Authorization: Permission to work in the European Union 🇪🇺.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Industry Familiarity: Experience with (mobile) free-to-play games. 
• Horse Enthusiast: Familiar with horses and/or equestrian sports.
